Sikoryak sketches the Wright Awards

Here at The Doug Wright Awards we’re always trying to make our Big Show as interesting and entertaining an event as possible. This year we added live music, courtesy of The Drowsy Chaperone composer Greg Morrison, who played the piano throughout the show. We also had an idea to get a cartoonist to live sketch the show as a document of the night. And much like the time that we nearly got the cast of Scott Pilgrim vs. the World to present an award (missed it by like an hour) it didn’t look like it was going to happen.

Then, on the day of the ceremony my buddy Jeet and I were talking at TCAF about how we had missed the boat on this great idea. And R Sikoryak, the cartoonist behind Masterpiece Comics who was hanging out at his publisher’s table, overheard us and offered to do it. That’s all there is to it. We didn’t have to bribe or inveigle him as we usually have to do; a quick trip to an art shop and Bob was ready to go.

Anyway, we were extremely pleased and grateful to have Bob on hand to capture the night in his fast draw style. I’ll let the sketches he did speak for themselves. Thanks Bob!
